How do you, as an investor, stay grounded through all this volatility and conflicting signals from the White House?
Lizzy
Ben Jones
We need to be humble about what we don't know. The key is not to take big outsized bets. Stay invested for the long term, but adjust position sizing, not the overall portfolio.
Humble or sitting on the sidelines? It's an investor's job to take risk. How do you resist the urge to just be bearish all the time?
Lizzy
Ben Jones
History says do not be bearish all the time. Staying in the market is more often the right course over the medium to long term. If you're a long-term investor, ignore the news flow and stay invested.
Do you sense we are going to be in a structurally more inflationary world over the medium term?
Anna
Ben Jones
I absolutely do. Everything that's happened accentuates my medium-term view: we've had a regime shift. We are in a world with structurally higher inflation and less trust.
How do you protect yourself? What are the medium-term investment strategies? Is it all around TIPS, the dollar?
Anna
Ben Jones
I don't think it's the dollar. You need to build more diversification into portfolios. Cast your net wider: equities, fixed income for income, and alternatives like commodities.
